Petitioning STATE Reps and Senate
Support Strengthening Animal Cruelty Laws in STATE
Petition by Carlos Garcia
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way in which its animals are treated," Gandhi.
Although much progress has been made there is still a long way to go before we are able to hold our collective heads up and say that we treat animals with the full respect and dignity that they deserve here in STATE.
Animals are treated cruelly every day, and this learned behavior can be stamped out by strengthening the statutes on our books.
First, we need to ensure that once a person has been convicted of abuse the innocent animals in their charge are immediately taken away from them and placed in the protection of a regulated animal shelter.
Second, we require stronger regulation for all animal shelters to ensure the ethical treatment of all animals under our protection.
Third, in order to help prevent learned abuse, anyone convicted of animal cruelty in front of a child will be subjected to harsher penalties -- including increased jail time where appropriate.
By signing this petition you are demanding that our elected representatives treat animals with respect and dignity, and do everything they can to end cruelty in STATE.
STATE Reps and Senate
Animals in our state deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.
I am demanding that you support legislation that would immediately remove all animals from the custody of a criminal convicted of animal abuse, that STATE animal shelters are regulated at the highest level in order to ensure the ethical treatment of animals under the protection of the people of STATE, and that you will help prevent children from learning to abuse animals by moving to substantially increase penalties for all those who are found guilty of abusing animals in the presence of a minor.
Thank you for working to ensure that STATE leads the way in ending animal cruelty forever.
