In an interview with Rolling Stone that was released last week, Donald Trump told the interviewer to look at Carly Fiorina's face and see why the American people cannot have her as the face of the country. “Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?! I mean, she’s a woman, and I’m not s’posed to say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?” Needless to say, there was tremendous backlash to such a comment, as insulting a fellow candidate's aesthetic appearance as opposed to substantial policy points is a pretty ridiculous tactic. Jake Tapper asked Carly about Trump's comments last night, and her answer has received applause from women around the world.
When asked about Trump's attack on her appearance and pushed to comment on Trump's persona, Carly responded that "women all over this country heard very clearly what Mr. Trump said.” Without a personal attack on the Donald, Carly managed to provide a poised and noteworthy response to a question that could have bred animosity on stage. “I think she’s got a beautiful face and I think she’s a beautiful woman," Trump followed up. The applause for Fiorina's response understandably far outweighed that for Trump's.
