While it does not appear that 'The Trump Show' is coming to an end anytime soon, the Donald's social media presence is certainly lagging. While Trump was formerly the most favored presidential candidate on Facebook, Dr. Ben Carson has recently usurped the top spot. In an election where social media presence is increasingly vital for each campaign, Carson's taking of the title may be indicative of his future success in GOP polls - potentially placing him above Mr. Trump.
Following his surge after the second GOP presidential debate, Carson has now amassed over 4,000,000 'likes' on his official Facebook page - 100,000 more than Trump's page. The Wall Street Journal has attributed Carson's social media success to his campaign's high level of engagement. “His campaign manager and chief strategist post daily 70-second videos discussing the latest Carson news and events,” they note. “Mr. Carson himself responds to questions from supporters nightly.”
On the Democratic side, Sanders and Hillary do not even come close to the support that Carson and Trump have received. Sanders leads the Democratic pack with merely 1.6M 'likes.'
Why do you think Trump's campaign has slowed down? Why has Carson passed Trump on social media?
