West with Wilson, #3, Escaping Hurricane Rita:, Oct. 1, 2005

We did over 700 miles today and tonight we are in Cheyenne WY, At a Motel 6 of course. They take dogs with no questions asked and no special fees, but they lack things like shampoo and big towels. But they have nice clean rooms and a TV so that is where we are staying. I would prefer the Hilton where I stayed last year on the 15th floor. Or that nice hotel in Vancouver where they brought me my own bed and dog bowl

We had a good trip in Kansas. We went through Junction City where the Army base Ft. Reily has been for over a 100 years. George was an ROTC cadet there 51 years ago. It is a nice Army town. Then we went to my town. Wilson KS. Yes there is a n town named Wilson in Kansas. Then we saw Russhall KS where Bob Dole was born and raised. I wonder if his dog "Leader" is still around?

And we also went through Denver CO where George went to Graduate School. So you see this trip is interesting for George and also interesting to me, as I have not been on this route before.

George is dining on Subway sandwiches and today he "shared" half of his sandwich with me if you know what I mean. The folks on the beach will know what I mean.

They say a tropical wave is close to the Gulf of Mexico. I hope it just goes into a non-populated section of Old Mexico. And it does look like someone is working on getting the power on at our beach house. It is cool up here in the west. It was 60 degrees when we got up this morning.

Tomorrow we go to the "Big Sky" country. Do you know what state that is?
