West with Wilson, #10, Almost home, Oct 15, 2005

So tell me what do Delhart, Dumas, Amarillo, Childress, and Vernon all have in common? US 287 that is what and today we took that highway all the way from NM to Wichita Falls TX. Everyone should get off the Interstates and take these old highways sometimes. You actually see small Texas towns, DQ’s, BBQ’s and other good food joints.

You also get to smell lots of feed lots. So tonight we are at the Motel 6 in Wichita Falls. We have about 380 miles to go to the beach. So we are in good shape to get there tomorrow.

It has been a long trip and there is another storm coming to the Gulf. Oh boy, I am tired of traveling. But there is another storm coming to the Gulf so who knows. We have had a nice time and everyone from Bastrop to Seattle has been nice to us and we do appreciate that.

I hope this is my last report for this storm Rita.
