Yes, I know we have to wait for the elections in Pennsylvania and Indiana and maybe even my home state of South Dakota, and don’t forget the Texas state convention on June 6th before we can call it a day and declare Obama the winner (he now leads in Texas and could pick up more delegates in June). Sure lets snipe at one another for the next two months and let McCain raise funds and visit all 50 states. And then let the losing side say to hell with you Democrats we are voting for McCain. (that is what 20% or so now say). That makes lots of sense.
And then there is Michigan and Florida and their delegates. Why don’t we just divide the delegation in half and declare that Clinton and Obama each get 50% and on to the convention.
That would make sense also, but no we are Democrats and we know how to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat, or is it the other way around. You tell me how John McCain could be leading Clinton and Obama in national polls with the economy going down the drain and the war in Iraq heating up. But no the Clinton’s (who even if they win all the remaining states cannot win the delegate race) are counting on the Super Delegates to help them and it just isn’t going to happen. Do you want to be the Governor who votes for Clinton even when Obama won his state and try and explain that to African-American political leaders in his state?
Sure Barack Obama will have an uphill race against McCain, but it is a race he can win even with the Tom Bradley factor (voters are hard to poll with a Black person is in the race and sometime tell the pollster one thing and vote the other way). And Hillary who still has a 50% unfavorable rating in national polls and after her sniping report in the war zone that should go up thinks she could do better? So, let’s put this campaign to rest and give us some much needed rest and let Senator Obama also get some rest and put his campaign for the fall together. March madness is about over and so should this campaign!
