Craddick loses big time. Miles gets good help. Culberson and

Speaker Tom Craddick only won 1 out of 6 contested House races last night. The Gossips think that perhaps the Speaker needs to look at his very partisan leadership and make a change. He took on the Parent PAC group who supported candidates that want to reform education and put more money into the education pot and lost. He supported State Rep. Al Edwards and lost. He tried to defeat State Rep. Richard Raymond and lost.

And the Gossips were impressed by the team that Boris Miles put together to put an end to Al Edwards poor performance. Actually it looked a lot like those folks who defeated State Rep. Ron Wilson two years ago. It had support from state Rep. Garnet Coleman and several Houston City Council and HISD folks. The professional staff had lots of experience in winning campaigns including the recent Coleman impressive victory. It should be a good change for that District and for the Democrats in Austin.

The Gossips were amused by Congressman John Culberson's recent email on how screwed up our nation"s security is and how you will not read about it in the Houston Chronicle. Culberson says "The Houston Chronicle is terminally biased in favor of amnesty for illegal immigrants and does not report on the national security threats created by our open borders. I hope that Houstonians read this vital information since you will never see these stories in our local newspaper. I am putting together both open and closed Congressional hearings to expose the massive incompetence, fraud and even espionage at the Department of Homeland Security and CIS (Citizenship and Immigration Services)". Then President Bush sends the Gossips a letter saying "Fortunately, this nation has superb professional in law enforcement, intelligence, the military and homeland security". He says that is how we are remaining on the offensive against terrorism at home. Seems like the President should have a talk with John and see what his concerns are.
