The Gossips hear that Senator Barack Obama will be in Texas for a fundraiser in 2 weeks. It will be interesting to see the list of names of folks who are sponsoring the event. John Edwards has been here dragging the sack raising money from the Trial Lawyers and of course Senator Clinton has lots of friends in Texas and a good list from her Senate campaign. Governor Bill Richards also is well known in the state and has a good list of names of potential supporters.

The Gossips think Rick Perry must be amazed at the support he is getting from Democrats on his Executive Order to require that Texas schoolgirls get vaccinated against the human papillomavirus, or HPV. Last September, Chris BelI in his campaign for Governor promised to do the very same thing . Now former Governor Mark White and former Attorney General Jim Maddox have also come out in support of the Republican Governor and his order. As Chris Bell said "this is about protecting women's health, not about politics. I fully support his action and am asking you to do the same," Of course some of the more conservative members of the Texas Legislature are now complaining that the Governor does not have the power to issue Executive Orders. The Gossips wonder where they have been when this Governor and the one prior to Governor Perry issued such orders.
