Obama impressive, Clinton's attacks backfire, Jack and Ron

The Gossips were impressed by Senator Obama’s big victory in South Carolina. A 27% lead is impressive and so is getting 25% of the Anglo vote. It is apparent to the Gossip that Hillary and Bill’s attacks on Senator Obama hurt her in that state and perhaps nationwide. The old politics doesn’t work anymore. So, at this point it looks like the race will continue and that Texas may even be in play in a month or so.

The Gossip may just decide to go with Change over Experience if the Clinton’s keep up their attacks. Texas could be a very good state for Barack Obama with a large African-American vote. The concern of course would be what Hispanic and Anglo Democrats would do. However the Democratic primary has been color blind in the past by nominating both Black and Hispanic candidates.

The Gossips will miss John Edwards when he finally decides to get out of the race. He did sound like the only adult in the last debate. He needs a role in the party and at the convention.

And did you note the big email blow up over Jack Rains telling the Governor’s office that appointing Ron Wilson to anything would be a big mistake? The Gossips agree with Jack and find the Governor’s office blowing off Jack’s email due to “a long liquid lunch” charge was way out of bounds. In fact Jack says he does not drink at lunch..anymore. The Gossip knows what he means, a drink or two at lunch will cause a very long nap later.

And speaking of Ron Wilson the Gossips wonder if he is behind the opponent that State Rep. Garnet Coleman finds himself with? Coleman is partially responsible for Ron’s defeat and the Gossips always thought that Wilson was a hard political player into pay back and winning at any cost. Wilson represented the opponent in a recent court case and his involvement will mean that Coleman will take his female challenger seriously.
