While it was only months ago that Donald Trump and Ben Carson exchanged jabs at one another in attempts to secure votes from Republicans seeking an outsider’s presence in Washington, it seems that they are now playing for the same team. That team, Team Trump, is on its way toward the Republican nomination, whether we like it or not, and Ben Carson has decided to join in their momentum.
"He's actually a very intelligent man who cares deeply about America," Carson said this morning. "There's two different Donald Trumps. There's the one you see on stage and the one that's very cerebral, sits there and considers things very carefully."
Carson, speaking at a press conference in Palm Beach, Florida, formally endorsed Donald Trump for the Republican nomination, claiming that the real estate mogul is the candidate most suited to ensure that “the voice of the people [will] be heard." Carson is now the second former presidential candidate to endorse Trump, following on the heels of Chris Christie, New Jersey’s governor.
Carson explained that past feuds between himself and Trump have been squashed, as the two had “buried the hatchet.” "We moved on because it's not about me. It's not about Mr. Trump. This is about America."
The retired neurosurgeon also expressed his contempt for the political process, explaining that higher-ups in the Party are trying to diminish Trump’s success and that Republicans should just allow “the political process to play out."
Commenting on the endorsement, Trump said the following: "Having his support, really, it just adds total credence to what I'm trying to do and to what we're all trying to do."
