Is it time for DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz to resign?

The Democratic Party’s leadership has taken a rhetorical beating from Bernie Sanders supporters in recent months, as the latter believe that the Establishment has not treated their candidate fairly. These Sanders backers, as well as Sanders himself, believe that the Party is trying to further its own agenda by propping up Hillary Clinton, rather than moving with the will of the American people, who have shown substantial support for Bernie’s ideals. This has not sat well with those who see Bernie as the candidate with the ideals and proposals to fix the American political system and economy. Much of their frustration has been channeled toward the DNC Chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who has frequently alluded to the Party’s unwillingness to support Sanders and his plans. Now, however, it is not just Sanders supporters and far-Left voters criticizing Wasserman Schultz, as Mika Brzezinski, the moderate liberal co-host of Morning Joe has called on the DNC Chair to resign from her position.

“This has been very poorly handled from the start,” Brzezinski said. “It has been unfair and they haven’t taken him seriously, and it starts quite frankly with the person we just heard speaking (Wasserman Schultz). It just does. You know that,” she said, referring to the frequent disrespect and dismissiveness shown toward Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Her co-host, Joe Scarborough, added that if he were treated with the same disrespect that the Party has shown Bernie, he would launch an independent campaign. “I sure wouldn’t [support the Party.] If the party I was a member of treated me like this, rigged the debate process… I’d say go straight to hell, I’m running as an independent.” Of course, an Independent Bernie run could be disastrous for the Democratic Party, as Hillary and Bernie would split votes and effectively hand the election to Trump.

“She should step down,” Brzezinski then added. “She should step down.”

Do you agree that Debbie Wasserman Schultz should resign from her position?
